Running together… or not

Janathon Day 22 completed with a morning 5km, feeling suprisingly fresh but guess I am not pushing myself too hard.

Today also saw OH make his second run in 40 years ( yes I think he should have had a rest day) we agreed he would join me for the first 2km of my planned 5km. Bean Pole set off at a nifty pace and accelerated away on our agreed route, I next saw him 2km later sat on a gate waiting for me. I had tried to keep up, and the result was that I ran faster than I have since coming back from injury. However he is 6’3” with very long legs, so I guess our ‘Running Together’ is just going to involve leaving the house together and sharing a glass of water when we get home. It probably won’t be long before he is zooming ahead of me for the whole 5km.

Oh yes, I’ve got one of those too, never runs but can sprint off ahead with a spring in his long legs, doing cheeky little sidesteps until I catch up. Harrumph.

Oooh – I can feel a family parkrun coming on…

    • We are planning to do one end of March, if he builds up the distance, I reckon he will do sub 30 without even blinking…and then have to wait for me. Might try and get one or two of our boys to come down and run it too

You’ll have to investigate runs where he can add in loops at strategic places so you finish together. Either that or train him to have breakfast waiting when you get home.

  4. Well done – my husband just looks for new routes to try!

This is why I don’t like running with the guys…always in a state of playing catch up! :)

Sounds like me running with Mr W, except I don’t even have the excuse of him having much longer legs than me – I’m just slow! ;)
